The kennel

Named for the dog that started the whole damn thing.

Nestled in the Ohio River Valley hills—10 minutes east of Portsmouth, 45 southwest of Huntington, WV. The name honors Ian’s first dog, Cane (Kelley’s Yellow Hurricane).

Mission is simple: pass along that bond. You know who’s training your dog. You hear the truth on progress and roadblocks. No radio silence.

Nearly a decade in the game—amateur grit, pro results.

Years spent training his own dogs and dogs for close friends. Then pro work with two of the most successful hunt-test kennels going—every level of the game.

It started on a hunt around age ten: uncle’s Labs working a limit of geese. The shooting was loud. The communication between handler and dog was everything. That’s still the standard.

    Basic Obedience

    ~1 month

    Communicate at home and in the world. When the month ends, we train you on the same commands so it holds after pickup.

    Basic Gundog

    4 mo min

    Duck blind and goose pit ready—not left in the truck. Marked retrieves, fetch on command, early blinds. Hunting buddies stay happy.

  3. 03

    Advanced Gundog

    Flexible

    Harder marks. Land and water blinds past the basics. Polish to match how finished a hunting machine you want.

  4. 04

    Competitive Gundog

    AKC · UKC

    Junior / Senior / Master (AKC). Started / Seasoned / Finished (UKC). Handling available—per-event fee. Ask straight questions; get straight answers.
